Shaping is the next step in creating an oboe reed. You take your freshly gouged cane and bend it over a shaper tip. You then scrape the sides of the cane with a razor to be flush with the sides of the shapper. Shapers come in many different specifications and prices. You also need to purchase a shaper handle, which costs $200. a list of shaper tips available can be found at forrest's music online store |
